Synopsis | Mrs. Mead hires Geraldine as her companion, complaining that her family only cares about her money. Geraldine encourages Mrs. Mead's feelings of suspicion. Mrs. Mead’s son Mark, who's attracted to Geraldine, offers to hire a nurse and get Geraldine a good job elsewhere. Geraldine thinks he’s taken the rest of the family’s side against her. Mrs. Mead dies and leaves her fortune to Geraldine. Mark says he was going to propose to Geraldine but has changed his mind. Geraldine admits in court that she influenced Mrs. Mead and renounces her inheritance, but she has lost Mark forever. |

Marion is released and gets a secretarial job; she saves up until she can buy back her mother’s house. When they return, Marion and Charles are reunited. |

When Steve shows up in his new police uniform, Kate breaks up with him. On visiting day at the prison, Kate’s father says it’s his fault he’s incarcerated, the police are not blame, and she should marry Steve. She agrees. |
