Altho I have no hard evidence to back this up, I suspect Dr. Henriette Stoner (E.C. Stoner’s wife) was the writer (or co-writer) of the Saturnia and Gloat stories in Blue Beetle #34–36, 38, 39, 41 (Sep 1944 – Mar-Apr 1946). The two criminals banished from the planet Saturn attempt to take over the Earth. These stories have a different vibe to them than any other BB stories.
The serial probably should have ended after Chapter 5 where Saturnia and Gloat are presumed dead, rather than with the never concluded Chapter 6 where Gloat plans to use his earthquake-maker to destroy the city. The two extra-terrestrial criminals escape into an underground tunnel & the Beetle plans to follow them. The End??? |

If I saw that cover on the stands, I would have to buy it!
The older Dan Garret Blue Beetles are one area of CB+ I have so far not looked at - maybe something to do over the Christmas break? |
