Mrs. Simpson’s son Bill arrives and he and Stephanie fall in love “but it’s too late.” Bill and his father reconcile, and Mrs. Simpson begins to recover. Stephanie decides to leave, but Bill says he loves her and they will be married. |

Kitty is surprised when her parents treat Chad like a member of the family and begins to resent his presence although she’s also attracted to him. She’s shocked when her parents announce they want to adopt Chad legally. Chad and Kitty inherit the farm after her parents are killed in an auto accident. Kitty protests and Chad agrees to give up his share; he leaves. Kitty learns she was also adopted, and asks Chad to return. |
