All three of the main (not filler) stories in this issue have the premise that one person thinks his/her lover is dead, only to be reunited at the end. In two of the stories the "dead" person allegedly drowned. Also, amnesia is part of the plot of 2 of the 3 stories.

SynopsisMeg and her aunt, touring Europe, are rescued from a Parisian political demonstration by fellow American Carl, a merchant seaman. Meg and Carl fall in love, but Meg’s aunt tries to keep them apart, and books passage home, unaware it’s on Carl’s ship. The ship sinks on the voyage, and Meg thinks Carl has drowned. When Meg arrives in New York, Carl is there to greet her: he was rescued by another ship.
