Doris allows Rodney to make love to her to repay his assistance. Doris breaks up with Johnny. Rodney finally allows Doris to have a show of her paintings: she is ridiculed by all. Rodney tells her “your talents are all in your face—not in your hands!!” and says she should forget her “ridiculous attempts at painting!” Doris leaves, vowing to study and become a great artist and “someday…ask for Johnny’s forgiveness…”
