When Buck and his men ride off to attack a village, Fern knows “the primitive cave man who appealed to me as a lover would also have all the other brutal characteristics!” She returns to the USA and David. |

She spends the rest of the evening with Nicky, the fair’s press agent, and he kisses her at the end of the night. When Dennis stands her up due to work issues, Gale attends the country club dance with Nicky and goes to a roadhouse with “sort of a bad reputation” with him afterwards. Nicky takes Gale upstairs and makes a pass at her, but Dennis breaks in and saves her virtue. Dennis says he didn’t realize Gale needed “a little wholesome fun” and gives her an engagement ring on her 18th birthday. |
