Knocked out in an auto accident, Martha imagines she is back in 1673 as her own ancestor, where she meets earlier versions of Michael and Vincent. 1673 Vincent is a fortune-hunter who is defeated by Michael in a duel. When Martha awakes, she tells Vincent she has no money and he dumps her. She notices an old painting has changed to show her ancestor with Michael, next to a fallen Vincent. Martha will marry Michael.
