One feature I like a lot is "El Bombo" by Bernard "Dib" Dibble, which appeared in Sparkler, Tip Top, one issue of Fritzi Ritz, and in one issue of his own. Most of the strips in these comics were newspaper reprints (with some exceptions, like Sparkman) but I've been unable to find any info on "El Bombo."
Mr. Biltybux inherits a circus and Bombo volunteers to go undercover as an employee to see how things stand. He runs afoul of circus manager Snark, who places Bombo in charge of rogue elephant Gunga.
