Bill decides the household must economise (then buys a giant stuffed bird at an auction). He berates Betsy for considering buying a broom from a door-to-door salesman. Bill tries to run off the next vendor who appears, but is instead conned into purchasing tons of junk by the canny salesman.
This story's plot is a combination of two previous Bernard Dibble strips: "Looy Dot Dope" in Comics on Parade v2 #11 (23) (February 1940)--trying to run off a salesman but instead buying large quantities of his merchandise-- and "Danny Dingle" in Tip Top v1 #6 (October 1936)--complaining about household expenses but buying a huge stuffed bird.
