This story is completely bonkers. The giant shootout in the lobby of a posh hotel is only one incident in a bloodthirsty struggle between amoral characters. Crazy fun.

E Phillips Oppenheim was surprisingly popular in his day. I've read a couple of his books and quite frankly wouldn't read another - the prose hasn't aged well to me - but everyone's different in their tastes This one buffs up nicely though in graphic form. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._Phillips_Oppenheim Oppenheim is in the public domain and his works can be found in the usual places
