He agrees because they’re romantically attracted to each other, but when Arlene takes the lion’s share of the settlement, Matt breaks off their romance. She decides to give him all of the money but it’s too late: he’s a reporter investigating her unethical practices. Arlene is disbarred and sentenced to a year in jail, although this sentence is lighter because Matt testifies on her behalf. Arlene hopes Matt will be waiting for her when she’s released. |
