Rick tells Janie that Major Strunsky is in league with the guerrillas, keeping the Legionnaires weak by withholding food. Rick and Janie expose his scheme and save the Legion outpost. |

Bruce promises to give her “everything your heart desires” if she breaks off with Swanton. Bruce embezzles funds from the bank to give Addie presents and is caught out. Addie convinces him to surrender and Swanton declines to press charges. Bruce is only sentenced to a year in prison; Addie promises to repay the money and she and Bruce will be married when he’s released. |

Gail knocks Ace out and is afraid she’s killed him; Dick returns and takes responsibility (but Ace is only unconscious). Gail realizes Dick has “a moral courage” and decides to marry him. |
