The artwork is so different from later issues, but very good indeed. Closer to the movies. Very enjoyable issue!

You're right, vollmann, the art here is really nice, especially the lead story. It has a pulp-magazine feel to it and resembles H. C. Kiefer in spots (though I don't believe it's HCK). Wonder if the same artist did 1, 2, and 4. Issue 5's art looks more like the series' typical artwork.
