The language is a bit archaic, but the rhyming prose makes up for that. The illustrations are superb, and so is the detailed storyline, much more ample than previous versions I have seen.

Robert Browning's rhyming makes it an excellent piece of reading. If anything it written in a speech that is way too modern. It would be nicer to read it in the medieval Hanoverian dialect of Plattdeutsch.
