Strangely, Frank Crisp is largely forgotten these days despite being the writer of The Night Caller, made into an excellent low-budget British movie (1965) with the stunning Patricia Haines (married to Michael Caine) who incidentally would have made a first-class Lesley Shane. In the States, the movie was bizarrely retitled Blood Beast from Outer Space for the drive-ins. It’s available on at least two video-sharing platforms – just google the title.
The Haunted Reef reflects Crisp’s former role as a merchant seaman. An exciting South Seas adventure involving murder, madness, diamonds and deceit, it would have made a good movie and is based on a 1950 novel of the same name. Good pencils by ???
