This is my first "Animal Fables." What a strange comic! A funny-animal Human Torch (in a story that wasn't very funny)? A faun who wishes he could be evil to please his no-good elder? Very odd.

"Take Fire!" is pretty close to "Flame On!" Also, the death of the main villain in the first story is sort of surprising (oops, spoiler). And I'd have thought that the "Red Ant" would have been depicted as a Communist, given the date of this comic, but no. The two Aesop's Fables stories are drawn in a very nice, realistic style. Update: in "Mad Hatter" #1 (published in 1946, a year before this one), Freddy the Firefly DOES say "Flame On!"
