In the splash panel I thought the letterer had inadvertently turned a caption into a balloon so that Joan is saying "I've enjoyed my holiday, Joan thought." But this peculiar practice continues throughout the story. Instead of thought balloons we see a rectangular caption with a pointer to Joan. Weird. I've never seen this one before.

Synopsis
Returning from holiday to her work at Rockwood Hospital, Joan encounters a rude man. But when the front of the train derails, the man is calm and efficient in helping her deal with the emergency. When she gets back to the hospital, she discovers that he is to be the new house surgeon. His sternness to women is resented by the nurses, but he comes to admire Joan's work. When Joan falls from the ledge after rescuing a young girl who had crawled out there, Colin rushes down and reveals his true feelings for her. But Joan learns he is married to a pleasure-seeking woman who deserted him years ago.
