The first story appears to be inspired by early contactee Howard Menger who claimed to have met visitors from Venus and took photographs of saucers similar to those in the story. He had dark curly hair and a blonde wife as well.

I just love how the typical earth people go into space wearing a bubble helmet on top of a suit or a dress. And without air tanks.
