Strange looking texture to the pages. I wonder what kind of paper or cloth this was printed on.

Two of these wonderful books were also published in Germany around 1895. "Der Sperling mit der gespaltenen Zunge" (The Tongue Cut Sparrow) and "Der Kampf der Krabbe mit dem Affen" (The battle of the Monkey and the Clab). Both books are available through second-hand bookshops and each book is around € 300 expensive. *shock* :-)
