Society really doesn't like to acknowledge attacks on itself. Both Gulliver's Travels and A Connecticut yankee in King Arthur's court - to name two - are both satirical, quite biting attacks on perceived social hypocrisy. You would never know that from any adaption in film or comic that you have ever seen.
