The house ad on page 33 is at least honest: "Buy Charlton Comics! (We Need the Money!)" Interesting that this ad is in a romance comic, but only one of the 6 titles displayed in the ad is a romance book. But it does show the range of genres the company handled: love, cars, war, Western, fantasy, and superhero.

Re the house ad on page 33 - That Blue Beetle comic never got published. The cover looked like we were in for a great Ditko story and new character, but the book got cancelled before it was published. The story did eventually get published in the Charlton Bullseye Fanzine.

In Germany, publishing houses were not quite so open, when it came to begging. In the 60s and early 70s one could often read in german comicbooks: Buy two, or even better, three of our comic books and give them away to your friends, to make they happy. :-)
