It's odd. Raymond, and John Prentice after him, put a lot of effort into drawing real-world props. After the meticulous rendering of Rip's Mercedes Benz 300SL it's odd to see such a faked-up station wagon later in the story. It looks almost like someone else drew it (assistant maybe?).
