Pretty sleazy. I realized when I saw the first story that this is the first time I've seen the word "nude" in a pre-Code comic. Even so it looks as if the artist made the statue a bit nuder than the editor felt comfortable with. In the long shot on page 11 (panel 5) she seems to be wearing a thong, while in the following panels her hips have been covered up. Speaking of wardrobe malfunctions, on the cover the reflection shows a strap going around the woman's ribcage but the woman herself doesn't have one.

Wertham would probably have loved this cover. Yes, Crash, I also noted the inconsistency between the mirror front of the lady and the real back view. curious. I have not yet paid much attention to Golden Age Blue Beetle. The silly costume does not attract me to the character. But looking at this run, Blue Beetle was a Crime Anthology masquerading as a Superhero book. There are 'fetish' and 'Bondage' covers - even two with 'a girl in a red dress in distress' [See what I did there?] And some of the insides are definitely not G-rated. Different days for sure! Cheers!

Also, there's no green dress in the reflection. Spot the differences! But maybe it's two different women? Gorgeous, identical, seen-it-all twins who like to dress and undress in front of one another, pretending it's a mirror? While a guy with a curved dagger and snake-eyes lurks nearby? Like Lucy and Harpo, but fortified with more kink!
