You have to give Ham Fisher credit for parlaying his Joe Palooka strip into a franchise with Humphrey and Little Max each getting their own comics. They're both one-joke ideas (Humphrey is fat, strong, eats a lot; Max doesn't talk) that somehow caught on. I'm still puzzled why the cover says "Hi, teens! This issue is especially for you!" when it isn't ANY different than the usual Humphrey hi-jinks. There aren't even any "teen" characters in any of the stories!

As I've never liked Joe Palooka, I was surprised that this raised a smile. I know nothing about the creator so can't comment. But this comic was quite amusing, apart from the horrible looking Little Max.
So it's a one trick thing but so are so many humour comics imo. I was baffled by the wooden carriage that he pulled the lady about in. What in heaven's name was that all about?
The Ju Jitsu strip made me smile more than the rest.
