Interesting bit of pro-union public relations. I sometimes confuse Alden McWilliams with John Prentice because they were both Alex Raymond-inspired (and in fact McWilliams assisted on Prentice on "Rip Kirby," the strip Raymond was doing when he died and which Prentice then took over).

This comic interested me on a number of levels. The artwork is fantastic. If he was influenced Raymond, he learned a lot. From an historical perspective, the background art and the narrative evoke a better time when it was possible for American workers to live a fine life with a decent standard of living. Good paying jobs with benefits and on-the-job protections. Some folks today subscribe to the fact that our reality, where the economy has be gerryrigged to the benefit of the Uber rich, the destruction of the middle class, the elimination of good paying jobs, is a dystopia compared to what might have been.

Notes
Given the 1965 and 1969 editions http://www.comics.org/issue/393905/ and http://www.comics.org/issue/933684/ (and its variant issue/1034838/), it was noted in group chat that "it is probable that the second is a reprint and not a duplicate. The Publisher in 1965 was Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen which merged in 1969 with three other unions to form United Transportation Union. So it could have reissued the comic in 1969 under its new name."
