Angry at his happiness and success, his brother tears off his mask and he notices his face has changed permanently into the handsome mask. The brother then sees his own reflection and notices now he is horribly disfigured.

However on the surface his body begins to shrivel up due to intense dehydration and he needs to return to the underground realm to survive, but realizes that can't happen anymore.

In the future, the scientist notices that humanity has been wiped out as the sun is dying and natural resources have been exhausted. Returning home in the time machine they explain what happened to the council and they agree that science must be reinstated to save the Earth in the future.
