I didn't know about this hero. Of course I immediately thought of Britain's legendary Steel Claw, though beyond having metal mitts the characters bear no resemblance to each other. It was funny though that the opening caption describes the Steel Fist "clawing." Art in the early episodes is by H. C. Kiefer, a capable middle-tier artist who worked in a wide variety of Golden Age genres. He was good in all of them, but he really shone in historical stories.

Yeah he's a pretty obscure character. What impressed me the most is the art in the 2 final appearances; sadly, we don't know the artist who made those, but it looks very refined and almost too modern for a 1940s comic.

Steel Fist needs to team up with the Purple Claw to defeat (or declaw!) the Yellow Claw!

Thanks, FraBig, nice collection. But what happens to Tim's steel fist when he's not The Steel Fist?
   By FraBig
Thanks! That aspect is pretty inconsistent. It seems that Tim doesn't conceal his metal arm in public; in some panels he appears as if he's got two normal arms, while in some others he appears with a metal fist even in his civillian clothes. I guess suspension of disbelief is the only answer... ;)
