NotesA well-regarded Australian western written and drawn by Keith Chatto. Is he really a man from nowhere? This issue sees him in the place where he was raised, a hidden valley populated by descendants of the Mayan race. Chatto works on a big scale, with full page panels or just a few panels on a page. It was published in (likely) 1958 by Apache Comics (part of the Cleveland Group, who published a lot of western stories in both comics and prose forms.) This is a new version of the file, with added page 14 action!

KEITH CHATTO, 1924 - 1992 Australian illustrator and cartoonist http:www.collectingbooksandmagazines.com/chatto.html PAW in particular would be interested in this bit of trivia, [ KEITH Chatto was one of Australia's most prolific illustrators and cartoonists in the post World War 2 period. He is variously remembered for being the first Australian artist to illustrate a full-length comic episode of The Phantom, for his Skippy the Bush Kangaroo comics, for his myriad pulp fiction covers, his original cartoon titles and for his abiding interest in "glamour" illustration.] I remember that Phantom story. "The Man from Nowhere was still going quite late in the piece. I remember it well. Thanks, DAN. [Was disturbed when I logged on this morning because my comments on DanUnder Dan's uploads had disappeared. They were still there in 'Recent Comments" but were in limbo, since the original uploads had been changed and apparently the comments links went with the original books. Unnerving.]

Sorry about the vanishing comment. Australian comics are full of dynastic heroes, where the identity and responsibility is passed down over the years, and the page I somehow missed is actually quite pivotal to this aspect. A busy week and a few less-than-good scans of pages needing replacing contributed to this happening. I had been considering copying your comment still held on the forum for completeness, but hadn't got around to it
