Not only Super Detective #1 but also Buck Ryan #1 ! Well Done Gentlemen.

This was an exceptional upload. The story was top shelf which means they probably stayed close to Charteris' vision and writing style for The Saint. The art was outstanding as well with visual great effects and atmosphere.

This is a reprint from the American "Saint" newspaper strip, drawn by John Spranger. Saint creator Leslie Charteris got writer's credit but it's unclear if he wrote more than the first couple of episodes (drawn by the strip's original artist, Mike Roy). The Amalgamated Press people did an unusually good job in editing the original continuity. It reads like an new story rather than a collection of chopped-up dailies. Spranger's artwork is excellent. EDITED TO ADD: A later discovery: according to Burl Barer's "The Saint: A Complete History" (McFarland, 2003) Charteris did in fact write "each and every adventure" of the syndicated strip. Barer had access to Charteris' files and archives, so I guess that settles that.
