JEREMY BLADE by Len Lawson was published in 1947 by Wirraway Publishing. (Wirraway is an Aboriginal word, meaning ‘challenge’ or ‘challenger’ in the language of the Wurundjeri Nation.) Wirraway was a short-lived publisher, and Jeremey Blade was the only comic it published. It was intended to be the first of a series. Len Lawson was a good artist and a passable writer, but his career in comics was eclipsed when he turned to crime. This comic is mostly interesting as an example of a failed historical adventure series, showing that the Australian market wouldn’t jump at every comic published.
