| Notes | THE PANTHER 44 by Paul Wheelahan was published by Young's Merchandising in December 1960 (estimated). Wheelahan was a prolific Australian comics creator (this tile ran for 73 issues), including Yarmak, Space Hawk, Davy Crockett, Rex Strong and the Raven. | Synopsis | The Panther joins the Maharaja, diplomat Peter Benton and Benton's wife Harriet on a tiger hunt. Attacked by one of the great cats, the Panther is able do down it with a single rifle shot, but there is still the threat of a second tiger lurking nearby. Peter Benton takes off in pursuit of it, and the Panther, informed of his departure, takes off after him. Benton succeeds in taking down the second cat, rescuing the Panther in the process, and proving to his wife that he isn't such a coward after all. |
