| Notes | ACTION COMIC 17 is an anthology comic published by Leisure Industries in early 1948 (estimated). The first feature in the Lone Avenger by Len Lawson. Lawson’s later crimes are discussed under other issues of this comic, and need not be repeated here. On the story published here, Lawson’s art as improved over his time as a cartoonist, and is especially dynamic in any scene involving horses. This is issue is the firt where the illustrated storey doesn’t start on the cover. The second feature is Rick Davis by Yaroslav Horak. Horak had a long and storied career in Australia and England producing both comic books and comic strips. Perhaps his best known, and easiest to obtain, work was as the second artist on the James Bond comic strip.
