JOHNNY JOHNSON – TRIUMPH OVER TOKIO by John Parkinson, published by RDR Publications in 1946 (estimated). RDR only published three comics, all featuring the former fighter pilot, Johnny Johnson. As they were all essentially self-published as one-shots, it’s uncertain if this is the second or third of this series. He also created a small amount of comics stories for other publishers. Parkinson was a commercial artist who, later in life, became an internationally exhibited watercolourist. The actual physical copy of this comic was not in good condition (the covers are very battered, there’s water damage throughout and an insect has chewed its way through a number of pages) so this is scanned via a smart phone app to avoid further damaging the original. This comic makes up in enthusiasm what it lacks in professional polish. Parkinson is not much into drawing backgrounds, is he? Having been raised on American comics' do's and don'ts I find it odd to see "hell" tossed around liberally yet the heroes still exclaim "shucks!"

@OzMan - I'm away from home, so can't check, but I think From 'Sunbeams' to Sunset lists this as the second and Lost Atlantis as the third of the Johnny Johnson comics. (Or it might have been in Bonzer.) With a split opinion, I didn't come down on either side. I suspect there's no difference in which you read first, as events in other stories of the same character are rarely mentioned in this period. Each comic is like an episode of a syndicated TV series, where each can be enjoyed as a standalone story.
