| Notes | CARL DANE – GANGSTER GUNS by Hal English was published by Cane Publications in 1946 (probably!). Carl Dane is a private detective in the hard-boiled and noir traditions (the comic is published in that period). Hal English was a regular contributor to early Australian publisher, the Offset Printing Company, where he principally produced the Red Steel stories. Car Dane appeared in three comics from Cane Publications, that published nothing else – it may have been Hal English self-publishing. After the comics industry in Australia increasingly turned back to reprinting foreign comics, English worked with Monty Wedd in locally producing animated films.
