Hi Mark, Your posts are great--the comics you share are well-scanned and worthy additions to the site. But something's awry in your coding. Every one of your files fails to open for me. In CDisplay, I get this error message: Access violation at address 004F8727 in module 'CDISPLAY.EXE'. Red of address 00000000. I can unzip your files and re-save them as a .cbz file and then they work. Since it seems to only be occurring with your files, I wonder if the main file titles are too long. Significant lines of characters can confound some apps, and CDisplay being ancient tech, it might not have the oomph to parse those super-long titles. I don't know this for certain--it's just a guess. I unzipped this file, deleted the final image (the scanner logo) and re-saved it just Weird Mysteries_012.cbz -- and it works fine. I have to do this with every file you upload. It's not a hassle, but it might be affecting other users who don't know how to manipulate the files as I do. I encourage you to experiment with shorter file names. Perhaps that's the issue. I thank you for your work and your kind sharing of this material. Best, Frank

Hey Frank! You're not the first person to have trouble reading my books with CDisplay — there's an incompatibility between that old software and some modern zippers, or at least that's the best explanation I've heard. I've tried multiple different ones and have had the same problem with each, so it could just be that there's no squaring this circle, unfortunately, beyond downloading a more up-to-date comics reader (CDisplay was last updated in 2011, I think I saw?). My apologies for the inconvenience, and my appreciation for the kind words about my scans! -Mark

SynopsisAn old man realizes his nephew is poisoning him for his gold. He has his servant melt his gold down. He mixes a radioactive solution into the liquid gold. After he dies, per his instructions, the servant imbalms his corpse with the radioactive liquid gold and then cremates his corpse. The ashes are put into a gold urn and given to the nephew. The nephew was instructed to run his fingers through the ashes. Afterwards the nephew throws the ashes away and then not only realizes that those ashes was his uncle's gold, but the radiation in the ashes was going to kill him.
