Thanks! Great find.
Etta Kett was a now-almost-forgotten newspaper comic strip that ran for about 50 years from 1925 to 1974. However, the strip title has had a curious afterlife in crossword puzzles. "Kett of the Comics" is a common clue, used long after the comic strip itself disappeared from the comics page. A similar fate overtook the comic strip Ella Cinders (1925-1961). "Etta" and "Ella" are useful four letter words for the cruciverbalist, who is always looking for 'e's.
After all these years of doing crosswords ,now I can finally look take a gander at Etta Kett and decide for myself if she was worthy of puzzle immortality.
