NotesKOKEY KOALA AND HIS MAGIC BUTTON 54 by Noel Cook was published by Elmsdale Press in July 1952 (estimated). At this point, the comic had two features: Kokey Koala and Whizz the Wizard. The series ran for 64 issues, with some changes in its numbering – the first five issues were unnumbered, then a long run of issues were numbered from 6 to 55, and thereafter the remaining issues were volume 8, issues 1 through 9. The comic was targeted at a younger audience, though some of the co-features were in different genres. Late in the run, a science fiction feature, Major Future, took over the cover from Kokey himself, probably in an effort to attract a new audience. It did not prevent cancellation.
