Charles R Howell (born 1904) worked as an insurance broker in Trenton, NJ, from 1928 to 1954. He served two terms in the New Jersey General Assembly (1944-1947). He was elected to the House of Representatives and served there from 1949 to 1955. This comic promotes his run for the US Senate; in a close election Howell lost to Clifford P Case. In 1955 he was appointed New Jersey State Commissioner of Banking and Insurance in February 1955, a post he held until 1969. Howell passed away in 1973.
