The "Iowa Style"recipe on page 15 is a primitive form of corn dog - hand molded rather than dipped. Iowa = corn. ????

I think the implication is that they don't have an *inedible* skin that you have to peel off, but "skinless frankfurter" is an unsettling word to read so many times

Sorry, but those "appetizing" recipes look anything but. Maybe if they'd been able to print photos the dishes could have been made more attractive. As it is, a comic book style drawing of four sad-looking weenies lying on a bed of vaguely-drawn God knows what ("Frankfurters a la Creole") doesn't stir the old salivary glands. The floating fortresses in the "Frankfurter Mixed Grill" look just plain silly. Classic 50s specialty recipes...it's a wonder they didn't include putting wieners into a Jello mold. Amusing side note: the drawing of the Roman bacchanal on our page 8 is a swipe of "Pontius Pilate's Banquet," a 1947 illustration by Dean Cornwell for Lloyd Douglas' novel "The Robe." However in the original no wieners are visible.
