I can buy the character designs originating from Disney people, but the art seems kinda crude for Disney professionals.

You may be right about the Disney Animation artists not having drawn it. Now that I think about it, Canadian Fishing Co. probably wouldn't have wanted to pay Disney's high rates for their entire project after paying what they paid for the character designs. I don't recognise the artist's style, and can't connect it to any Disney Animation artist they had working for them in 1953. Furthermore, I don't reconise the style to be able to connect it to a Western Publishing artist they used on Disney franchised series 1953. I only read that Disney was hired by them to design the characters. I just assumed, without thinking about it, that they also hired them to draw the final artwork.

The only 'character' that looks Disney to me is the bear on the back cover of this issue and the next.
