Suggestions for Editing
« on: December 20, 2008, 03:23:20 PM »

I've just finished my first comic edit (Lawbreakers 004); are there any comics the group would like to see cleaned up/edited? Please post a list.

One I can think of is Pudgy Pig, but I think it would be better candidate for a re-scan.

How about my Invisible Scarlet Oneil #2?  My old scans are embarrassing. This one is at least not digital camera. It does however even need cropping and straightening. thanks

Hi Perseus,
Thanks for your efforts but I strongly suggest you get permission from original scanners when possible before posting their works.  Some might not like it many woundn't mind.

Looks like Narf here doesn't mind you working on his ISO'N 2 and I can think of one other regular that perhaps could use a little help.

Many of Powder Solvang's Fawcett books could use with some page straightening and cropping.  But please be sure he doesn't mind the edits and if you use Irfanview I suggest saving each page at about 86% to keep the pages about the same size as originals.  But remember each time you resave a jpg you damage the image as jpgs are a 'lossy' format.  So if you do straighten and crop a page please do both before you finally save it.

Any and all of my scans are freely available to edit to your heart's content. I hope to redo my digipics. My early scans were not even cropped. Do a search on narfstar and edit any that you wish. My later scans are usually cropped but not always as straight as they should be and not edited. BTW infranviewer can be used to convert jpg to tif before editing to avoid loss.

Invisible Scarlet O'Neil 002 has been ftped and is ready to go. If you would, Narfstar (or anyone else who is interested), here or by pm, come up with a list of items you would like to see edited (other than the two you have already mentioned), I'd be grateful. It saves having hunt and peck around the site.

Btw, Scarlet was quite the comic; unusual to say the least. You have good taste, sir! I'm not too familiar with Harvey's myself.

Which software did you use Perseus?
Looking at both the original and yours it seems to my eye you've perhaps tried to sharpen it a tad much?  The colours appear to be more saturated as well.  In Irfan you can tweak colours but I tend to use it only to resize, straighten and crop.
