What, seriously? Here's the biggest collection of comic fans I can think of, and Stan Lee's passing only rates two notices? I was preparing to add my name, apologetically, to the end of a gigantic list, saying sorry I'd been so busy but....

Heck even Steve Ditko got more RIPs here and I didn't even know he'd died until I logged on to pay my respects to Stan the Man...

Oh well, Sic  transit gloria mundi as I always say in such circumstances.

Excuse me, I'm a little tired and emotional. RIP Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko and all the others who gave us the Marvel Age of Comics and are no longer on this mortal coil. 'Nuff saidl

Yes I am late responding.  I simply didn't know what to write. Still don't.  So much of what we all love about comics goes back to Stan Lee. lyons put it better than I ever could.

We can take comfort in that in infinite alternate Earths Stan is still alive and exercising his influence on the industry.

I think that the lack of comment here comes from mixed feelings about Stan Lee. I'm not going to change that except to say that official comment currently coming from Marvel and from Disney should be taken with a grain of salt.
This article is probably about as apt a piece re Stan as we are likely to get.

Agreed, Panther, there's a lot of emphasis currently being placed on Lee's contribution to the Marvel legacy at the moment and very little to the other great talents (Kirby and Ditko being just two) without whose contribution Marvel would never have been able to make such a gigantic impact on the industry in its heyday.

But at the same time, without Lee's great talent for self-publicity, and without him constantly blowing the Marvel Comics trumpet, I suspect many of us might not have taken quite so much notice!  I'm still shocked that Ditko's death could have passed me by so easily.  Do I just read the wrong newspapers?  ???

If Stan Lee had not existed, the Marvel Age would not have happened.  He was the nucleus within Marvel Comics.  His creations and collaborations spawned a new type of super-hero.  For that, I thank him.
