Life in the old dog yet.
« on: July 27, 2020, 12:09:17 PM »

While I do try to keep discussions down and around subjects directly relevant to the creators and work relevant to CB+, That's a pretty wide area. And I think most of us are invested enough in the genre to be wondering whats next for the future of comics.

So here are two bits of good news.
Over at Dynamite, a new series has been launched of Green Hornet by Scott Lobdell, Anthony Marques and J Bone. I'm not the greatest Green Hornet' fan but this is very good stuff. I will be trying to follow it.
More interestingly,

J Michael Stratzynski and Mike Deodato JR. have a new six-issue miniseries. The Resistance

This was launched in March and I've just found out about it and read the first three issues.

If you wonder where comics might go in the future, check this one out.

The Resistance Interview: Straczynski & Deodato Launch a New Comic Universe

https://screenrant.com/upshot-resistance-comic-straczynski-deodato/

This is not just another bunch of Superheroes, this can be seen as a potential reboot of the whole idea of Superhero comics. Not that there is anything totally new about it, but I think they are right that if you are going to drag ideas kicking and screaming into 2020, you need a whole new universe, the existing ones are beyond repair. No spoilers from me, they are too good for that. Check 'em out and enjoy!

Great heads up, Panther - thanks.

Always been a Green Hornet fan since he appeared in TV Tornado in the sixties and as for Straczynski - well, he brought us Babylon 5 so 'nuff said.

As a Green Hornet fan for a long time - I have the 2 serials, the complete tv show, as many GA and later comics as I could find and a couple of physical GA issues - I will give this Dynamite book a try.  But as I've written before, I'm not a Dynamite fan - fur coat and nae knickers, as I remember writing.
As for the future, or what is currently on sale, I've been trying digital downloads from Indy Planet.  Some entertaining offerings incl.  Femme Noir - Joe Staton art; Gary Kato's Mr. Jigsaw; John Aman Amazing Man, awfy good! There's also a lot of Big Bang and Flare universe comics.
