A PD Superhero Newspaper Strip?
« on: January 20, 2010, 01:51:04 AM »

Hi, I recently stumbled upon what I thought to be an English translation of a Belgian newspaper strip called the "Red Knight". this cannot be the case as the Belgian strip took place in mid-evil times in the one I have takes place in modern times.

I seem to recall this character being mentioned as being created during the golden age but I can't seem to find the character on the international hero website on which I first discovered it.

If I could login I would be more than happy to contribute my finding in gratitude for all the joy this site has brought me.

However, I'm not sure if this character is in the public domain all her golden age.

Does anyone have any information about this comic strip?

There was a minor newspaper superhero called the Red Knight created around the GA times. I think Ron Goulart talks about him in one of his books (maybe in his section in All in Color for a Dime?). He was given his superpowers by a scientist and if I recall the sole art that I've seen correctly, he's armored from the waist up. Pretty much all I recall, there never has been that much information available concerning him. Not related to the Red Knight of Cyclone Comics nor the one of Red Dragon Comics.

It seems that the character of the red night was created by the Register & Tribune Syndicate. They're the ones behind the Spirit comic strip as well as to Mr. Mystic newspaper feature. If Mr. Mystic and the Spirit are public domain and it's probable that the Red Knight is too.
