Happy Birthday to Barry - seventy years young today. Barry's work on Conan the Barbarian moulded the greater part of my later teenage years.

You mean he's exactly - and I mean exactly - one year younger than me? Like you Andrew, I was blown away by his work on Conan. I admire Buscema ( how can you not) but Barry Smith for me was a whole other level. It was also the first work for Marvel he did in his natural style. Nobody worked harder to be accepted in the US. He started by imitating Kirby - In a short period of time He did One X-men, One Nick Fury Agent of Shield, one Western, but the standout for me was the two-part Daredevil team-up with Black Panther. Made as much an impression on me as Frank Miller's Daredevil did a few years later.   
And a question, what earlier work did he do in the UK before that? Where would you look for his work?

As for Barry Windsor Soup, I loved his Conan issues, and his depiction of Red Sonja, well........  Nuff said!

I hope you had a happy birthday, Panther, as nice as it can be during the lockdown.  But, I'm guessing you're in one of the early stages of opening up, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Actually, I'm in the country, a couple of 100 Ks West of Sydney in a town of about 2500 people and a minimum of 10km away from any other town. So, here, the lockdown experience was minimum. On the day, I was shouted out to lunch by a couple of mates, and got quite a few email greetings, some unexpected, so not a bad day. And yes, Australia is opening up, you can now go out to a Cafe and have a sit-down and a chat (with social distancing in place however) with your coffee.  And I think there is a Rugby League match being broadcast tonight.

The Marvel Conan wasn't the first comic book Conan though - I'm pretty sure there was an earlier Spanish version

I don't consider myself the greatest Conan fan, but I have read the new 'Red Nails' and it is excellent. I could say, if you know Marvel's Conan, this is Conan taken to the next level.

It appears that Ablaze has won their continued battle to publish their Conan comics under the title The Cimmerian. As Bleeding Cool reported earlier, the controversial comic is back with a new series, The Cimmerian: People of the Black Circle, to be published August 26th from writer Sylvain Runberg and Jae  Kwang Park.

Actually 'The Old Geezers' is already available in English, up to 5 volumes, by EUROPE comics, who publish on the net. I thoroughly recommend that company too.

New Title - The transporter is excellent. Take the concept of the Films but locate the Character in a Post-apocalyptic world. Sort of Mad Max as the Transporter.
