It today came to my attention that Delcourt has published a series by Philippe Squarzoni of HOMICIDE, or more accurately 'Homicide life on the streets' the great TV show and prelude to the Wire by David Simon. And it's absolutely perfect for a source for a comic adaptation.
Looks excellent but to my knowledge not yet available in English. I may learn French by downloading French comics and deducing the story from the Art.

So far there are 5 of them.
Actually I just remembered, I have read the autobiographical novel Simon wrote about the time he spent on the street with Baltimore police gathering research. Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets.  I can recommend that too.

I must track down that Delcourt series. I was a big fan of the neo-noir gritty Homicide.

I never got to see The Wire as I was working overseas when that was at its peak - but my son raved about it.
