Happy Birthday to Joe Sacco who turns 60 today.

Joe was a seminal influence on the development of graphic media as form of investigative journalism and brave enough to tackle some of the most emotional and devastating upheavals in his region of the eastern Mediterranean.

Not seen much from Joe for awhile but luckily he's not dead, only resting - but he lives in Portland, so if he's looking for a new warzone to write about.....

Well said. Actually we have two Portland's in Australia. One is just a short distance away from where I am.
Neither of them is a Warzone, but one is in Lockdown.
Actually - I think this is correct, Anywhere in the world there is a town called Portland, [And there are others] there was a cement  industry.

Joe's new one looks interesting - Paying the Land - might be of interest to Robb who I know once worked with First Nation peoples:

A very interesting article.  It's shameful that The British and Canadians wronged Canada's native peoples, (in addition to the well-known US, Spanish and Mexican Government abuses of their native peoples).  I never worked for The Dene Peoples, but worked for their cousin Athabaskan tribe, The Dineh People (Navajos).  The closest I got was Pacific coastal tribes in British Columbia.  I assume that this journalist is not the same person as Joe Sacco, the Canadian former NHL hockey player.
