The “W. R. Brown” signed on various stories in this issue makes me wonder if this is Bob Brown (aka William Robert Brown), the Batman and Daredevil artist from the 70s.

In addition to Brown, Red Holmdale of MLJ, and Howie Post of DC, Baily Studio, JCA, Timely/Marvel, and later, Harvey drew stories in that book, as well as someone named Stuart.  I wonder what his first name was, and which studio he worked for.

Come to think of it, I seem to remember that name working on early or mid '40s jobs for one of The New York comic book studios (Baily's, JCA, or Ferstad's, or Sangor's).
