Why do we lose the right to view the bulk of 75+ year old Fawcett Funny Animals books, just because they contain Hoppy The Marvel Bunny, but these Capptain Marvel Jr. vignettes are NOT taken away from us? Despite being much closer to Captain Marvel?

Why can't we, at least see the non-Hoppy stories? And what money is DC really making from Hoppy in any case? Is that really worth depriving fans of Golden Age classic funny animal comics of most of a classic comic book run?

Can't the scans be edited to remove non PD material?

Absolutely, they can.  However, there is no one to do that, as the main priority goes to uploading completely new material.  I suppose I should volunteer to do that job (IF it is simply removal of pages from the already scanned finished book files).  I don't want to deal with scanning from original books that are not my own.

Well, Freddy Fly does that with much of the material he uploads, before he uploads it. But its a different matter for work that has already been uploaded.
We need to always remember that people aren't paid to contribute work hours to CB+
A better possibility, again if someone was inclined and had the time, would be to extract the non-Captain Marvel funny animal material in the form of Archives.
The DC lawyers were actually pretty generous with us, as I understand it, but they are lawyers.

Cheers!

It isn't logical, fair or socially efficient in any way at all - but try finding a politician to take up the cause of copyright/trademark review - a complex field with no easy electable soundbites

Yes, as Panther notes, it is possible to remove the non pd pages. It's being done, by Freddy Fly, narfstar, some times me and others.  That work is for "new" comics and I don't want to go into scans provided by others.  The idea of archives seems a good one but I don't have the time to do that for these books.  Apart from being on CB+, a couple of other sites, I have a life to be getting on with.  It's difficult keeping up with everything that goes on here, never mind day to day stuff.  There are so many comics and strips I'd love to see and find but sometimes we have to be content with what we've got.
