I didn't find much online information about Judge Goldstein, despite the fact that he had a long and productive career, retiring from the bench in 1956. He was active in New York welfare and juvenile justice issues. Shortly before his death (1967) he wrote an article arguing for decriminalization of drug use as a way to divert people away from jail and into treatment. A Republican, Goldstein lost the 1945 mayoral race to Democrat William O'Dwyer.

One thing struck me odd: Judge Goldstein's full name was JONAH JAMISON Goldstein. He was well-known in New York. Could Stan Lee have liked the sound of the name and used it for J. JONAH JAMESON?

One thing struck me odd: Judge Goldstein's full name was JONAH JAMISON Goldstein. He was well-known in New York. Could Stan Lee have liked the sound of the name and used it for J. JONAH JAMESON? 

I think that is unlikely to have been just a co-incidence.
There are other examples of things Stan got from other sources - and what creator doesn't? And he would have been drawn to the alliteration.
Looking at Frabig's Red Devil compilation, I wondered, Judge who is fanatical about Justice becomes a superhero? Individual strongly desirous of righting injustices becomes a lawyer and a superhero?
Too big a stretch?
And yes, it was Wally Wood who gave Daredevil his red costume, not Stan.
